Application
Click here for my "formal" application. Don't fear the application! The questions on there are not to trick you or to say "you cannot adopt!" The answers are not right and wrong but rather will help me know what advice I can give you. For instance, if you say you have three cats and a toddler, I can help you decide what type of cage can keep all your "family members" safe and where to keep it. If your landlord or parents are against you having rats, I can give you some tips on changing their minds, so you can have a couple. If you don't have or know a vet, I may be able to help you find one. If you have only a ten gallon aquarium and not much money to spend, I can give you tips on how to add onto it and what kinds of toys and accessories are good in an aquarium.... The questions aren't hard. I promise! People I know well or who have adopted from me before do not need to fill out a formal application. ![]() Contract A draft of the contract for adoption, which is to be signed when a rat/rats are adopted, can be viewed here. I may change the contract some, as this is just a first draft. I welcome any suggestions. I believe the contract is not harsh and is straight-forward. It was made to offer assurance and protection to me, you, and the rats. (Paragraph 5 will be different for a rat adopted for breeding.) Yes, I think contracts are important, even when dealing with honest and loving people and animals as "inexpensive" as rats--because we care. I want everyone involved to know what is expected of them, and to be assured that I care and that you care enough to make a commitment as a pet owner, the same commitment any pet owner already has, just put into words on paper. ![]() Email Etc. My email adress is spark13@hotmail.com If there are prblems with that address, I can be reached at boutwell2@marshall.edu (but I rarely check that email, so don't expect a quick response.) I live in Huntington, WV or in Belington, WV and can arrange pickup of rats or whatever at either place. (Belington is an hour and a half from Morgantown; Huntington is right on the border with KY and OH.) Please make sure you are willing/able to get to one of these places before you reserve a rat (or at least well before the aranged pick-up date), so we can avoid sudden cancellations and miscommunications. And remember ALL emails I get about selling my rats to pet stores or as feeders will be deleted with no reply. I also frown upon keeping rats singly and "backyard breeding," so don't expect to get far with me if your intentions fall into one of those categories. (Sorry to be so blunt, but I get tired of drawn out conversations and debates. I am generally an open and understanding person, but there are a few big NO's about keeping rats. If you want to know a few others, just look into my info section. I care only about keeping rats and owners happy and safe.) |
